Post Con Stories & Updates

It is now a few days after AX Chibi. I feel the chill of winter in my room, but I am finally rested up enough to make some updates. I was extremely busy the last three weeks between traveling to Detroit for Youmacon and then traveling back to California for AX Chibi. But somehow, I was able to make art for some of my favorite IPs such as Nightreign, Peak, Pokemon, and Teamfight Tactics during those weeks. Desperation truly is the driver of progress! I wanted to make some notes about my thoughts while traveling and doing conventions as well as what’s to come for my next art pieces!

Youmacon: I went into Youma with low expectations as it was my first time in Detroit and had little knowledge about the locale. To be honest, I had come to Detroit with the preconceived notion that it was a scary place. I was pleasantly surprised, however, by the kindness people showed there, whether it was my uber driver, the hotel concierge, or the random people walking by my booth. As for the convention, it was located in Huntington Place, a huge convention center building. I didn’t really get a chance to explore much as I was tabling, but the artist alley and exhibitor’s hall felt vast and overwhelming at times. It’s always nice to receive warm praise for my art and the people at Youma really improved my confidence with art. While the weather was cold there, I had soaked in Detroit’s warmth and had a cozy time there. I would definitely try to go again!

AX Chibi: AX Chibi was one week after Youma. This was a big con for me especially because all of my friends who helped me begin my convention journey were participating. I was also hosting my first ever stamp rally themed around Peak, a fun “friendslop” game that I had been enjoying. I felt a lot of pressure as I was experimenting with a fun stamp card idea but, due to some mailing issues with the manufacturer for the samples, was working in the dark with how it would turn out. Luckily, we had managed to give out all our prizes, so I was very happy with the results. While there were some misgivings with the venue being a tent and some slow days at the con, I felt it was overall a successful and fun time.

After such a busy time, I am now relaxing and excited to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas with my family and friends! I got into the beta test for Petit Planet, a new upcoming game by Hoyoverse and I am having a great time with the game. I plan on making art for it soon, as well as more Nightreign bosses and my favorite bird, the Guardian.

I will try to be more prudent from now on with my posts, giving updates on my upcoming cons and art ideas!
